Bwakaw (2012)
The story revolves around Rene, a gay man in his seventies who came out of the closet at age 60. Rene lives a lonely life, preparing for his death by making a will and even buying a coffin. His only companion is a stray dog named Bwakaw.
As Rene waits for his end, Bwakaw falls ill with cancer, which deeply affects Rene. In his efforts to save Bwakaw, Rene finds unexpected friendship in Sol, a tricycle driver who helps him take Bwakaw to the vet. This friendship brings new joy to Rene’s life, but when Rene confesses his feelings to Sol, Sol reacts with anger and disgust.
Despite Bwakaw’s worsening condition and eventual death, Rene learns to appreciate life and starts to live more fully, unpacking his belongings and making his home more livable.
